A Message To Our Clients

A message to our clients…

In response to the growing impact of COVID-19, SBW & Associates is taking a proactive stance and precautionary measures to ensure the health and wellbeing of our staff, clients and community.  Beginning today, March 17th, we are transitioning to a remote working environment.  We will be limiting our exposure to those outside of the firm and collaborating with our clients via alternate methods.

In this high-tech age, SBW is equipped with the most up-to-date technology to make all forms of communication available remotely.  We have kept up with technological advances for efficiency, but we never realized how convenient all this technology would be in times like these.  For the time being, we strongly encourage you to use the following alternate methods of communication:

Phone calls/Conference Calls:  As long as we are still conducting business within our office walls, you can reach us by phone at the following numbers:

Cody – 307.527.6161

Powell – 307.754.1010

Worland – 307.347.4555

Teams Video Call:  If you prefer a face-to-face meeting with a partner or staff member without leaving your office or home, we can always schedule a video call with you through Office 365’s Teams.  You do not have to have Teams in order for you to join the meeting…just a computer with a camera.

Email:  You can continue to reach us by email.  We just ask that you do not send documents containing your Social Security number or other sensitive financial data without it being encrypted.

Your SBW Portal:  A majority of our clients have been set-up with a digital portal in which you can send and receive information securely.  Some of you may have never used this option, if you would like to do so, please call one of the numbers above and we will help you set up a portal and educate you on how to navigate it.  We do prefer you use this method to send sensitive documents vs. and encrypted email.

DocuSign:  This option allows you to digitally sign your tax returns and other documents requiring a signature.  We can also upload your tax return in full for you to review prior to signing…or to have available to go over when you are on a phone call with your preparer or SBW partner.

Mail:  As a last resort, you can always send us information via USPS, UPS, FedEx.  If for some chance there is a quarantine, we will not be able to access this information until the quarantine is lifted.  Addresses for each office are posted below:

Cody – PO Box 637, Cody, WY 82414 or 931 Rumsey Ave, Cody, WY 82414

Powell – PO Box 858, Powell, WY 82435 or 428 Alan Road, Powell, WY 82435

Worland – PO Box 168, Worland, WY 82401 or 1015 Robertson Ave, Worland, WY 82401

First and foremost, you must know that you are taken care of and we will continue to take care of you.  Due to COVID-19 and school closures, our normal work practices have been disrupted. Because of this disruption, we have taken the precautionary measure of extending all tax returns; reminding you that this is only an extension on the time to file your return, and not an extension for the taxes that are due for 2019.  We will be focusing our attention primarily on those returns in which payment might be due.

On a positive note, the Treasury Department has granted a 90-day extension on payments without interest or penalty.  Your return still needs to be extended, but payments have another 90 days before they are due. There is also talk about Congress providing certain tax credits and possible tax breaks due to COVID-19.  We know nothing for certain at this time, but we will do our best to keep you informed.

We thank you for your support and understanding during this uncertain time.

Stay safe,

Keven, Tim and Reanne
